About This Role
The Section 504 Coordinator ensures district compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and applicable Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) rules governing student services. The Coordinator oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of Section 504 processes to ensure that eligible students receive a free appropriate public education (FAPE) through the provision of appropriate accommodations and supports.
**Essential Functions**
- Serve as the district’s designated Section 504 and ADA compliance coordinator
- Ensure implementation of policies and procedures consistent with federal law and Arkansas DESE regulations.
- Support 504 building coordinators in coordination of the referral, evaluation, eligibility determination, and placement process for students suspected of having a disability under Section 504.
- Support and monitor timely development, review, and revision of Section 504 Plans in accordance with regulatory timelines.
- Train and monitor implementation of accommodations and supports to ensure fidelity across all district campuses.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to administrators, counselors, teachers, and other staff regarding Section 504 compliance.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with FERPA, and district policy and procedures.
**Minimum Qualifications**
- Degree in education, educational leadership, or related field.
- Valid Arkansas educator or administrator license.
- Experience in education, student services, or a related field.
