Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.\n02. Perform supervisory responsibilities which may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and applicable laws.\n03. Prepare to assume administrative and/or operational control of all emergency activities of the department, as well as Emergency Scene Response and participate as assigned in the Emergency Operations Center.\n04. Assist the Fire Chief in the development of minimum standards and technical progression for officers and firefighters.\n05. Take the lead in the development of emergency operations and administrative guidelines and procedures.\n06. Aid in the development of minimum standards for the training of support staff.\n07. Assist the Chief in the development of the annual budget and capital improvements program.\n08. Review reports and records of department activities and operations and take appropriate action when required to assure they are effective.\n09. Regularly participate in either group or self-directed physical fitness activities.\n10. Assist with program development, grant research and preparation, and strategic planning.\n11. Perform supervisory duties related to fleet management, facilities maintenance, purchasing, and inventory control.\n12. Public & Community Relations oversight.\n13. Professional Development in General administration and Personnel administration.\n14. Oversee the department safety and risk reduction programs.\n15. Assist the Chief in developing long range plans for training, operations and equipment/facilities of the department.\n16. Participate in local, regional, state and national conferences.\n17. Perform other duties as assigned.
