This is a 9-month, full-time faculty position reporting to the Dean of Communication and Arts. The instructor is responsible for teaching 15 load hours each fall and spring semester in Theatre and other courses they are qualified to teach. The successful candidate joins a highly collaborative, innovative, and forward-thinking faculty teaching in Communication and Arts. The start date for this position will be in August 2026. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach a range of courses in the theatre program, such as Introduction to Theatre, History of Theatre, Acting, Stagecraft, Stage Management, or other courses relevant to the instructor’s credentials and experience. The successful candidate will possess the ability to develop new curricula relevant to the changing needs of students, the field, and the College; to recruit students to the program; and to build relationships with community partners. This role manages and/or directs one to two productions per academic year. Faculty may be required to teach other courses they meet minimum faculty qualifications for such as English or Public Speaking to make up their load where necessary. The successful candidate will demonstrate a student-focused approach to instruction that promotes retention and completion of credentials. Familiarity with the community college mission and appreciation for our diverse student profile is strongly desired.
Essential Duties:
The instructor will be responsible for the following academic duties in accordance with College and Division policy:
- Teach a range of courses in the Theatre curriculum
- Teach other courses outside of Theatre curriculum if needed to make up their faculty load
- Teach college courses to traditional and non-traditional college students, and to dual enrolled high school students in the Early College Experience program
- Remain current in the academic discipline and professional field.
- Participate in professional development opportunities both on and off campus
- Participate in the continued development of the Theatre program and the Associate of Fine Arts degree
- Participate in the formative and summative faculty evaluation process
- Teach mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends on campus as needed
- Teach courses by alternative delivery (Online -asynchronous, Remote - synchronous, Hybrid) as needed
- Prepare course syllabi and provide that all learning outcomes for the college are achieved, develop curriculum, and optimize student retention and success
- Meet assigned classes, facilitate and evaluate student learning, submit grades by established deadlines, and maintain student records in accordance with FERPA regulations
- Hold ten office hours on campus to facilitate interaction with students, other faculty, staff, administrators, and the public each week
- Participate in the continued development of the Theatre program and in program-level learning assessment
- Attend college wide meetings, division, and departmental meetings as scheduled
- Serve on committees, advisory boards, hiring committees, faculty senate, or as a student organization advisor
- Attend commencement or other ceremonies appropriate to the faculty member’s discipline or program
- Be available to teach at facilities in both Benton and Washington Counties
- Actively participate in NWACC’s Master Plan for growth and accreditation
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support the goals and objectives of the department and college
Rate of Pay: Determined by month faculty scale placement (education and experience) *Higher compensation may be considered based on qualifications directly related to position.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Theatre or closely related sub-field with 18 graduate credits in Theatre
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) or more years of teaching experience
- Experience teaching courses beyond Theatre curriculum
- Experience developing and evaluating curricula
- Experience using online learning management systems such as Canvas, Blackboard, etc.
- Experience completing program assessment
- Teaching experience at a 2-year or community college
- Experience managing educational or administrative processes

- The faculty member will be expected to provide service to the college and community as needed
