About This Role
The Senior Manager of Communications is part of a small, nimble department helping formulate, execute and sustain communications strategies for Simmons.
The Senior Manager helps shape and deliver the company’s internal narrative, inspire nearly 10,000 team members, and partner across multiple departments and cross-functional teams, ensuring clear, consistent, and engaging communications.
This role works with the Senior Director of Communications to develop and execute a comprehensive, strategic communications plan that reinforces Simmons’ mission and values and strengthens team member connection to the company.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer, highly organized, curious, proactive, and interested in the intersection of communications and business outcomes.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES - This is a salary exempt position
Develop and implement internal and external communications strategies that inform and inspire Simmons’ nearly 10,000 team members and promote our company culture.
Serve as a trusted communications partner to multiple departments and cross-functional teams, leading content development and advising on messaging, timing, best practices, and channel strategy.
Oversee the strategy and management of core internal communications tools and platforms, including intranet, email, company store, and digital signage. Coordinate and lead training sessions to enable departmental editors to effectively manage and publish content.
Cultivate strong working relationships across teams, including with HR Business Partners, to proactively identify stories and elevate team member voices.
Create compelling and effective materials for multiple audiences and mediums, including internal emails, news releases, feature articles, video scripts, organizational announcements, FAQ’s and other materials that follow AP Style. Manage quick turn requests and publish timely updates across platforms
Lead and support company-wide communications initiatives, including large internal change projects, campaigns for specific topics, and sales/marketing activities for internal business partners; from the development of strategy, messaging and planning through the execution and measurement of key deliverables.
Oversee multiple projects concurrently, engaging with internal and external customers and resources to meet deadlines and achieve project objectives.
Monitor communication results, team member feedback and media mentions that involve Simmons’ corporate brand and business units. Understand and track relevant issues and trends that could affect our business and reputation; working quickly to update teams and build recommendations/plans as needed.
Supervise the internal communications partner, providing direction and project oversight.
Participates as a member of the Team including ongoing development, communication and implementation of
team concepts, programs and policies. Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members and fosters strong cohesiveness.
Demonstrates extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of oral, written and visual
communications and interpersonal relations skill. Engages with industry organizations, tools and events to stay
current with communications related trends and support company functions.

Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicates with Customers, Vendors, or Employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail. May present information to small or large groups. Must be able to work in various temperatures. Move about in a manufacturing environment and surrounding property to include climbing stairs. Travel via car or plane to various work locations.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by visiting facility
Travel: May travel up to 20%.
Technical Experience: 5+ years in marketing, advertising, journalism, communications, public relations or related
field. Preference for project management experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the
ability to express ideas visually and provide direction. Must have a working knowledge of technology relating to
communications and graphic design, including websites and networks.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's in Communications, Design, Marketing, Organizational Communication or related field, or 4 years related work experience.
