SUMMARY: The Wastewater Lead oversees the wastewater plant operations and provides leadership and guidance to the plant operators. The Wastewater Lead conducts sign off on regulatory submittals along with the environmental manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Drive and operate a company vehicle as well as sludge handling equipment.
- Perform sample collection, laboratory testing, analysis and complete chain-of-custody forms required to operate the plant within legal parameters.
- Perform necessary maintenance and repair throughout the facility.
- Order chemicals, schedule deliveries, track chemical usages and maintain chemical feed equipment.
- Assist Wastewater Operators with process adjustments and regulatory reporting.
- Record and interpret meter and gauge readings, adjust influent flow, perform process adjustments and adjust chemical feed rates.
- Learn and operate all phases of the Belt Filter Press.
- Utilize a computer to enter data into a spreadsheet and communicate with plant and maintenance staff.
- Communicate effectively with plant management and maintenance staff.
- Continued observation and training of wastewater operators to ensure proper plant operations.
- Troubleshoot and correct any issues in the wastewater operations.
- Utilize process plant kill schedules to coordinate flow adjustments to maintain proper levels in the anaerobic lagoon.
- Conduct self in a safe manner at all times. Always use proper PPE.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will not have supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Required- High School Diploma
- 5 years of relevant work experience
- State issued Class 2 Wastewater License
- State issued Class 3 Water License
- 3 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of hydraulic pumps, electric motors, hydraulic valves, and flow metering devices
