Summary
The Assistant Product Manager (APM) is a key contributor to the Product Management team. This role is responsible for working with cross-functional teams in the planning, execution, and analysis of various business initiatives, as well as serving as the primary contact for inventory management, specifically distressed mitigation. The APM is an entry-level role that works closely with the broader team to execute strategic business and marketing plans to achieve corporate and product volume, profit, and share objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Product Manager and Senior Product Manager in achieving volume and profit objectives for assigned categories, aligning with overall corporate goals.
Support the execution of business plans to meet category financial and market share objectives.
Monitor assigned performance metrics to ensure categories are tracking against goals; recommend and implement corrective actions as needed.
Analyze data to identify insights and translate them into business initiatives and actionable tasks that drive results.
Participate in the development and execution of product and packaging design plans, including concept development, feasibility validation, product and packaging R&D, business proposal and approval, project execution, customer sell-in, and tracking of in-market performance.
Contribute to monthly volume forecasting for assigned categories by coordinating demand and supply planning to achieve best-in-class forecast accuracy.
Implement product specification changes as required.
Monitor production and inventory levels; collaborate closely with CSRs and Sales to mitigate distressed inventory and achieve targeted levels.
Monitor packaging inventory levels.
Manage the customer calendar to ensure all due dates and deliverables are met.
Develop a strong understanding of Tyson systems and processes, as well as customer packaging development systems.
Engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams on assigned projects.
Participate in customer sales calls and meetings.
Monitor industry trends, market share, and competitive activity.
Collaborate with Customer Marketing to develop category selling tools and execute promotional initiatives and sales communications.
Partner with customer business teams to develop and execute customer plans, including concept development, feasibility validation, product and packaging R&D, business proposal and approval, project execution, customer sell-in, and tracking of in-market performance.
Work closely with the Sales organization to understand and integrate customer strategies into business and brand plans.
Proactively collaborate with Sales Strategy and Planning partners to maximize forecast accuracy, identify opportunities, and develop plans to achieve objectives.

Strong communication and presentation skills required.
Knowledge of Tyson internal systems, such as SAP, NPD, Tango, and PPS, is preferred/required as applicable.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
