Athletic Trainer - Springdale High and Feeder Schools

Job Description

The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, emergency care, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes across all Springdale High School sports and all feeder programs. They act as the primary liaison between coaches, parents, student-athletes, and medical professionals.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Prevention & Preparation: Coordinate hydration, taping, bracing, and conditioning programs; monitor environmental conditions (e.g., heat index); ensure emergency action plans (EAP) are up to date and practiced for all venues.

Injury Assessment & Immediate Care: Provide on-site evaluation, first aid, triage, and emergency treatment for acute or chronic injuries sustained during practices and game days.

Rehabilitation & Return-to-Play: Design, monitor, and guide physical therapy and rehab protocols; hold ultimate authority on clear-to-play decisions following injury or concussion management.

Event Coverage: Attend all home athletic competitions, away varsity events (as assigned), and daily afternoon team practices.

Administration & Compliance: Maintain precise medical documentation, injury logs, parent communication, and inventory for the training room and sports medicine supplies. Maintain compliance with AAA (Arkansas Activities Association) and OSHA standards.

Experience

Required Years of Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice as a certified Athletic Trainer (ATC).

School Experience: Prior employment or dedicated clinical experience within a middle school, high school, or secondary school environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or Sports Medicine (Master’s preferred).

Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensure by the Arkansas State Board of Athletic Training.

Certification: Board of Certification (BOC) certified Athletic Trainer (ATC).

CPR/AED: Current CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification.

Background Check: Clear state and federal background check, along with child maltreatment registry clearance (required by Springdale Public Schools).
