Camp Counselor (Temporary/Part-Time)

Essential Job Duties:

1. Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees, and have regular and reliable attendance.
2. Responsible for supervising and instructing participants in the Parks & Recreation Summer Camps in a safe and friendly environment.
3. Report to work promptly as scheduled with proper attire, and be ready to supervise camp participants thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of camp.
4. Assist in organizing and implementing activities for camp participants.
5. Monitor camp participants at all times.
6. Assist with the set-up and tear-down of all camp related activities.
7. Instruct and lead participants through daily activities.
8. Be alert, professional, courteous and always tactful.
9. Respond to any injured participant with proper first aid care and complete paperwork regarding accidents.
10. Interact with and supervise campers in a manner which protects their health and well-being.
11. Attend staff and training sessions as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Competency in one or more activities like Tennis, Pickleball, Soccer, Theatre, Swimming, Archery, Kayaking, Fishing, Disc Golf, and Mountain Biking.
• Extensive experience working with children.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills.
• Ability and interest to learn new teaching techniques, child management skills.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
• Must possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification prior to camps.
