Job Description
This Group Leader – Civil Engineering role is an opportunity for a high-performing civil engineer who is ready to step into a people-focused leadership position within Olsson’s Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team.
Play a critical role in supporting our people, strengthening delivery consistency, and helping guide the growth of our civil engineering capabilities across transmission and distribution projects. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys mentoring others, influencing team culture, and connecting day-to-day project work to broader business and client goals while remaining technically fluent in civil engineering for T&D infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and support a group of civil engineers and designers working on transmission and distribution projects.
Foster a positive, collaborative team environment aligned with Olsson’s values and T&D team culture.
Support project delivery by providing leadership oversight, removing barriers, and promoting consistency and quality in civil design work.
Partner with project managers and other group leaders to support workload balancing, resource planning, and utilization.
Assist with onboarding, coaching, and professional development of team members.
Support process improvements related to civil design standards, workflows, and quality control.
Serve as a point of escalation for team questions related to workload, coordination, or technical challenges.
Help team members understand how their work connects to project success, client outcomes, and Olsson’s long-term goals.
Collaborate with leadership on hiring needs, succession planning, and long-term team growth.

You bring to the team:
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
A minimum of eight years of related experience supporting civil engineering work for transmission and/or distribution projects (e.g., grading, drainage, foundations, access roads, site development).
Four years of experience supervising junior staff
Solid understanding of project delivery, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and quality expectations.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with team members and project partners.
Interest in developing leadership, coaching, and people-management skills.

Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, geographic location, skills, education, and internal equity.
Colorado Pay Range
$133,000—$198,000 USD
