SUMMARY: As set forth by the Public Works (PW) Maintenance Custodial Foreman, coordinates and supervises the daily activities of PW Maintenance Custodians engaged in the maintenance of City buildings, facilities, and adjacent grounds by performing the following duties. Acts as the “lead” for their crew and is responsible for the crew’s daily activities and work performance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly oversee the daily activities and work assignments of 10-15 Public Works Maintenance Custodians assigned to their crew. They carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include insuring safety guidelines are met, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.
Reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedules may be subject to change to meet City needs or operational requirements. Attendance at work and the ability to get along with the public, supervisors, and co-workers are essential elements of this position. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists PW Custodial Foreman with planning and scheduling work shifts.
Orders and maintains janitorial supplies within city facilities.
Assists PW Custodial Foreman with equipment needs and budget preparation.
Knowledge of different cleaning products and equipment.
Time-management and multitasking abilities.
Frequently lifts and over 25 pounds.
Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Notifies custodial foreman concerning any need for repairs at city facilities.
Responds to emergency and bio-hazard spills.
Read and comprehend all safety rules, state regulations, city policies.
Read and comprehend all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) for potentially hazardous chemicals.
Follow all security procedures when locking and unlocking buildings.
Reports any personnel issues.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and seven (7) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver’s License.
