**Essential Job Duties:**
1. Perform supervisory responsibilities which may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City’s policies and applicable laws.
2. Exercise independent judgment to make on-site decisions to overcome unforeseen problems that arise.
3. Read and comprehend drawings of plans for streets, sidewalks, trails, and drainage.
4. Utilize transit to shoot and set grade.
5. Utilize safety procedures as needed on all jobs.
6. Communicate with employees, residents, customers, and the general public in a professional manner.
7. Serve in an on-call status on a rotating basis to provide emergency response.
8. Attend training courses required and classes for hours to keep required licenses.
9. Supervise all materials, personnel, and equipment required to complete assigned projects.
10. Operate equipment to perform all jobs in the department.
11. Keep equipment and tools maintained, schedule repairs on vehicles and equipment.
12. Use p-card to purchase materials and supplies needed for completion of job tasks. Obtain quotes when required by purchasing policy.
13. Assist with special projects as assigned.
14. Prepare paperwork and perform administrative duties.
15. Draw and copy maps/atlases as needed.
16. Inspect equipment to diagnose potential problems. Order parts to complete job tasks.
17. Investigate problems in the field and determine best course of action to resolve issues.
18. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
1. High School Diploma or GED and two years of related experience.
2. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License – Class A within 120 days of hire date.
3. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
4. Proficient in the use of a personal computer and other related software programs.
