**Essential Job Duties**
1. Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
2. Operate a total station, GPS and data collector while doing topographical, boundary, control survey and construction staking.
3. Perform reconnaissance in field for survey monuments, control, bench marks and property corners. Implement the use of magnetic locators, shovels, picks and appropriately marking such found items.
4. Research previous surveys, deeds and easements when deemed necessary by the surveyor in the appropriate locations.
5. Responsible for vehicle maintenance. Keep truck supplied with necessary survey materials. Ensure survey instruments are maintained and batteries are charged.
6. Look up records online, find drawings and print/plot drawings.
7. Keep organized files of ongoing and past jobs.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications**
1. High school diploma or GED required.
2. Valid driver's license.
3. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
4. Must be able to become proficient in the operation of a total station, GPS and data collector.
5. Must be able to become proficient in the use of a computer, utilizing land surveying software and accessories as well as word processing and spreadsheet applications.
6. Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment.
7. Ability to assemble survey exhibits and plats preferred.
8. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and carry up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
9. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
