NEWS 19 (WHNT) is looking for a creative, motivated, and detail‑driven Newscast Producer to join our award‑winning newsroom. We’re searching for someone who lives for breaking news, thrives under deadline pressure, and knows how to build a compelling, urgent, viewer‑focused newscast. What You’ll Do - Craft, stack, and execute dynamic daily newscasts - Write clear, engaging, conversational copy for broadcast and digital - Coordinate with anchors, reporters, photographers, and the assignment desk - Implement strong news judgment to determine story placement and flow - Monitor scanners, wires, social media, and OTT platforms for breaking news - Pitch enterprise and follow‑up story ideas - Ensure accuracy, fairness, and newsroom editorial standards - Communicate clearly with production, graphics, and control room staff - React quickly during live newscasts and adjust on the fly What We’re Looking For - Prior producing experience preferred, but strong writers/reporters ready to step into producing will be considered - Excellent newsroom communication and organizational skills - Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure - Strong understanding of journalistic ethics - Solid grasp of AP Style, TV news writing, and rundown management - Passion for local news and serving the community - Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as news requires Why You’ll Love Working Here - Collaborative newsroom with supportive leadership - Opportunities for growth within a large broadcast group - Ability to shape impactful local coverage in one of the fastest‑growing regions in the Southeast - Huntsville known as The Rocket City” is sure to have a little something for everyone, whether your interests are space, entertainment, education, sports or outdoors.
