Position Title: Senior Marketing Strategist

Position Summary
The Senior Marketing Strategist is a high-level individual contributor in marketing strategy, responsible for leading the development and execution of complex, high-impact campaign strategies across assigned Crystal Bridges and the Momentary portfolios (general awareness and membership).
Working under the direction of the Head of Marketing Strategy, this role serves as a senior strategic partner and subject matter expert, translating institutional priorities into actionable, insight-driven marketing plans that drive audience growth, engagement, and revenue.
The Senior Marketing Strategist is responsible for owning and delivering best-in-class strategy within defined portfolios, leading complex and high-visibility initiatives (general awareness and membership).
This role provides technical leadership, execution, and strategic guidance to cross-functional partners, ensuring strategic rigor, consistency, and alignment across campaigns.
Principle Responsibilities
- Own the development and performance of marketing strategies across assigned portfolios (e.g., membership and general awareness).
- Lead end-to-end campaign strategy development, including:- Audience segmentation and development
- Positioning and messaging frameworks
- Channel strategy and media mix recommendations
- Go-to-market planning and campaign phasing
- Budget and invoice management
- Serve as the primary strategic lead for portfolio stakeholders, ensuring alignment between marketing efforts and institutional goals.
- Translate research, audience data, and market insights into clear strategic direction and actionable plans.
- Identify risks, trade-offs, and opportunities within campaign strategies and proactively adjust to optimize outcomes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in campaign strategy, audience development, and integrated marketing.
- Establish and uphold best practices for:- Campaign planning frameworks
- Audience targeting and segmentation
- Measurement and performance evaluation
- Contribute to the ongoing development of tools, templates, and processes that improve strategic output across the team.
- Partner closely with Creative, Content, PR, social media, and Direct Mail teams to ensure cohesive and integrated campaign execution.
- Act as a strategic translator, connecting high-level objectives to executional plans and deliverables.
- Collaborate with project management to ensure strategies are effectively operationalized.
- Define success metrics and measurement frameworks for assigned campaigns.
- Lead post-campaign analysis and synthesize insights into clear recommendations for future optimization.
- Use data to continuously refine audience strategies, channel mix, and messaging effectiveness.
- Collaborate with external partners including agencies, media vendors, and community organizations to support campaign execution.
- Provide strategic input into media planning and investments (in partnership with media specialists or agencies).
- Manage and optimize campaign-level budgets within assigned portfolios.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field
- Expertise in strategic marketing planning, campaign development, and audience engagement/segmentation
- Strong analytical and insight-driven decision-making skills
- Proven ability to lead complex, multi-channel campaigns from strategy through execution
- Advanced understanding of audience segmentation, positioning, and customer journey mapping
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence without authority and lead through expertise
- Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of arts, culture, or nonprofit marketing is a plus
Work Experience
- 5+ years of experience in marketing strategy, campaign planning, or audience development
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale or high-complexity campaigns
- Experience working with paid media, external agencies and vendors, or integrated marketing environments strongly preferred
