What You'll Do

A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the clinical director (M.D., D.O., or PhD) or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. A Polysomnographic Technologist can perform the duties defined for a Polysomnographic Technician and may provide supervision of other staff.

Requirements

  • Certified Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or have an acceptance letter from the BRPT to sit for the registry examination; Graduate of a CAAHEP or CoARC - accredited polysomnography education program, or meets criteria for any of the 5 eligibility pathways for RPSGT exam per the BRPT.

  • One plus years as an Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Board eligible candidate within one year of employment.

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by Board Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).

  • Current BLS or acquired within the first 90 days of employment, or RPSGT Pathway 2: Healthcare Credential Candidates for Pathway 2 must: Complete: A minimum of 546 hours of clinical experience that includes on-site polysomnography duties performed as direct patient recording and/or scoring. Clinical experience within a 3-year period prior to the exam.

  • Must have current allied health credential listed on our List of Accepted Allied Health Credentials.
