About This Role
This position provides security and protection over persons and various University buildings and/or property within the University community by enforcing the rules and regulations of the University. The opening is for two, night-time, 10-hour shifts. This is a Safety Sensitive Position as defined by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). This means that employee's inability or impaired ability to perform job-related tasks could result in a direct threat to their safety and/or the safety of others.
Role qualifications include the ability to create good will, integrity, honesty, goal-oriented behavior, and a commitment to the University’s mission. Responsibilities include patrolling areas, investigating incidents, enforcing regulations, providing security and traffic control for events, assisting in emergency care, and reporting safety equipment malfunctions. This position requires psychological evaluation, tactical firearms training, and state certification for an armed 'Commissioned Security Officer'.
Essential skills include experience in security or law enforcement, proficiency in computer applications, strong communication skills, and a valid driver's license. Preferred candidates may have completed courses in security or police work. Education required is a high school diploma with related work experience.
